Project Summary

The Medical Council of Canada (MCC) evaluates physicians to ensure that Canadians receive the highest level of medical care. When it needed to develop a new section on its website for International Medical Graduates (IMGs) looking to practice medicine in Canada, it turned to Kaszas for help. The organization wished to better explain the role of its new National Assessment Collaboration (NAC) task group, and offer information on how the group had developed a new, national, standardized examination specifically for IMGs.

Approach

Performed Stakeholder Research:

Conducted telephone interviews with key stakeholders to gather information on the MCC’s target audience.

Developed Web & Collateral Content:

Kaszas proposed that a new section be developed on the website to house information for IMGs, and we developed content to address the needs of three target audiences:

  • International Medical Graduates (IMGs) interested in taking the new NAC OSCE exam
  • Website visitors interested in learning about the NAC program and accessing its reports
  • Website visitors looking for additional IMG information provided by provincial organizations.

In addition, Kaszas created a physical brochure that answered the most common questions posed by international medical graduates regarding the NAC examination.

Impact

MCC rolled out the new web content with great success and then returned to Kaszas to produce additional web content for a new target audience: university residency program directors seeking information about the examination.

By conducting interviews with these directors and provincial assessment program representatives, Kaszas was able to identify the key information required by this audience and develop additional web content tailored to its needs. Much of this information was unanticipated, and resulted in web content focused directly on the most frequently asked residency program director questions.

The interview process also led to additional buy-in from this key audience as they were interested in seeing the end result of their input.
